here's a travel tip. the next time someone comes up to you and asks, 'do you want to go to malacca?', run. run the fuck away.
if the world had an armpit, it would be malacca. and i had the great misfortune of rubbing my sorry face in that armpit for the last 3 days. it was a total flop, but my dad wouldn't agree with that. i swear, he and my 9 year-old cousin were the only ones enjoying themselves there. well my cousin's only been overseas once before this so in her case that's forgivable. but my dad. if he's not getting any commission for this then it's a sin no one should ever commit twice. the first day we got there i was down with a fever. so i stayed in the hotel for dinner while everyone else went off to eat. second day all i remember was we were stuck on the road for 4 hours trying to get back to the hotel. first it was jalan thamby abdullah then it was jalan laksamana cheng ho, then jalan thamby abdullah again i swear those two were driving me crazy. i mean seriously, who the fuck names himself laksamana cheng ho. it's like pandian johnson, neither here nor there. but honestly, the best part of malacca was leaving. we did absolutely nothing there. my dad's bright idea of taking us to ayer keroh took us to a lake where 5 men were fishing and a little boy was eating bread. then he forced us to go on a boat where they in turn forced us to wear smelly lifejackets with no zips. oh yes and bukit china. don't ever let anyone trick you into going there. ever.
cigarettes in malaysia are so cheap you wonder why it's not the staple food there.
